.Hi! My name is Christopher Allen Neumann, and I opened CAN Therapeutics in the Fall of 2019 after moving to Ashland with my wife Kym. I began my practice in San Francisco over 15 years ago, and am passionate about the healing power of massage, movement, bodywork and a natural lifestyle. When I am not working with others you can find me meditating, hanging out with the family, enjoying films, music and art, journaling, doing research on things, playing sports and exploring movement arts, and of course basking in nature, and maybe even climbing a mountain or snowboarding down one.
A good massage should be considered a regular staple in our lives, not a luxury. I’ve come to realize that the value of a restorative massage has therapeutic power like nothing else. My work isn’t pampering. It isn’t superficial and it’s never routine. Its customized, intuitive, deep, and careful. It’s infused with a deep understanding of anatomy and physiology, from multiple disciplines which gives me an advanced and comprehensive view of the body. Each session is prepped with a conversation and a check in. And I prize communication and partnership so that needs get met on and off the table. With all the sincerity and seriousness of a truly therapeutic experience I also value having fun! And there’s plenty of that when I work with Clients.
I’ve worked with hundreds of clients from all over the world and have acquired over 1000 hours of certified training and over 3,000 hours of clinical practice. And I continue to be amazed at how bodywork transforms a person’s quality of life. Not only does it provide relaxation and relief, but it also has the ability to heal longstanding injury when nothing else does the trick. I can provide relief on the table; the other service I offer is showing people gentle ways to help release and manage stress pain and tension on their own, in their daily life. I think it’s critical to have both tools available to us.
Besides my accredited schooling, I have continued my education with professional certifications from: the Oakland Raiders and San Francisco Giants Team Massage Therapists, Trigger Point Clinicians, Chiropractors, and Movement Therapy Educators in the Hanna Somatics, Yoga Therapy, and Qi Gong and Tai Chi lineages. I have accumulated extensive experience from years of private practice and also working at spas and sports clubs in Santa Monica, CA; the Bay Area; Boulder, Colorado; Charleston, West Virginia, and Southern Oregon.
I love tailoring sessions to the needs of the individual and the needs of the day. I have a gift for ‘hitting the bullseye’ and instinctively finding the exact spots that need work to find solution for my clients. These days, I find myself resolving painful muscular conditions held in people’s bodies for years or even decades. I enjoy bringing the relief that hasn’t been found yet. I consider massage therapy to be a cornerstone in stress management, health care, and a powerhouse for fostering well-being for all ages. And when someone just needs to let go and have a good massage I take care of that too. I know this, we all deserve to feel well.
I look forward to being a part of your path towards health and longevity!
