This 2 Hour workshop will show you 13 simple and gentle movements that have the power to release pain and tension in the muscles when practiced everyday. And that is the purpose of showing you these little movements, to give you something you can do 2-3 times a day for 10 to 20 minutes at a time to A.) Unwind decades of tension and B.) and manage tension and pain effectively and naturally everyday. Many people suffer from chronic pain and tension without knowing these tools. The thirteen functional pandiculations I teach give people this gentle and easy way to begin to have more control over our ability to release chronic tension and muscular pain. More fundamental to human function then any other exercise system I have ever seen. As a Yoga Teacher and a Tai Chi Instructor, athlete, long walker ( I walked 1800 miles across the United States) I can attest to their efficacy and natural power.

The Myth of Aging & Chronic Muscular Tension Ignored

What is often deemed the effects of aging is often actually due to energy trapped in chronically tight muscles. These 13 movements help make sure chronic tension doesn’t accrue and when practiced consistently help to relieve long standing tension often having built up over decades! The animals manage their muscles using functional pandiculations for their anatomy up to 40 times a day to stay supple and active. We go 40 years and never pandiculate. No wonder there is so much suffering especially in the older age groups.

Sensory Motor Amnesia: Our Health and Energy Emergency

Sensory Motor Amnesia? What is that mean? I’ll explain it. It is a term that Dr Tomas Hanna used to describe what happens to us when we don’t pandiculate functionally everyday or on a regular basis. Muscle tension accrues and the brain just registers that tension as normal, not tight! This becomes a problem over time. We have no means of communicating with our muscles. We aren’t taught. These movements begin the path of communication with our functional muscle groups, so we can stay awake, energized and youthful while we are alive.

Whether we are conscious of it or not, we are constantly communicating to our muscles to contract to make things happen! But how do we communicate consciously to relax? And no muscle works alone actually! So how do we communicate with functional groups of muscles! What happens is that we end up contracting more than we relax our muscles. Over time the contraction accrues. Then muscles become painful and sore because they are working all the time! The muscles respond more deeply to a pandiculation, which bypasses the stretch reflex! Stretching has its benefits as a Yoga Teacher I know this but it is also limited. Having the pandiculations in your tool box pre yoga, pre fitness will greatly add to your movement health. There’s such a need for these movements to be learned and practiced that I am focusing exclusively on bringing this body of work to you and your friends, family, contacts and colleagues.
